Tim O’Hara
Tim O’Hara is co-chief investment officer of Strategic Investment Group, taking responsibility for all aspects of the investment process, portfolios, and performance of a company that manages $35 billion on behalf of primarily foundations, endowments, and pensions.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Tim earned his B.S. in economics from the Wharton School and his B.S. in engineering from the Moore School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania as well as an M.B.A. in finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University. Prior to joining Strategic, he was managing director at Rockport Advisors.
Tim is a third-generation Irish American, and though his migrant ancestors lost touch with their relatives overseas, he feels that “It’s clear that three generations is not sufficient to remove Ireland from one’s bones. We seem to inherit a certain Irish sensibility that serves us well.” This trait serves him well in his professional life, where he believes “A good leader works hard, keeps a healthy sense of humor, and tries to be an amadán [Irish for “fool”] as infrequently as possible.”
