Thomas O’Connor is a managing director, senior portfolio manager and co-head for the Montgomery Fixed Income team at Wells Capital Management. Prior to joining the firm in 2000, Tom was a senior portfolio manager in charge of Agency mortgages at Vanderbilt Capital Advisors (formerly ARM Capital Advisors). Earlier, Tom was a senior trader of Agency mortgages in both a proprietary and market-making role at the Union Bank of Switzerland. He was also a senior trader at First Boston and Smith Barney. Tom has been in the investment industry since 1988. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Vermont and has earned the right to use the CFA designation.

A third-generation Irish American, Thomas’s patrilineal Irish roots lie in Ulster. He was born in Hempstead, NY and received his B.S. in finance from the University of Vermont. He has two children, Liam and Abigail.
