Susan Brophy
Susan Brophy has been involved in Irish issues since joining the White blouse staff in 1993. Brophy served as the Director of Congressional Relations in Clinton’s transitional office. She also played her part during the presidential campaign, directing the office of Clinton-Gore in Washington, and working on the delegate selection process. She currently serves as Assistant to President Clinton and Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs.
A Massachusetts native, Brophy graduated from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, has been involved in state and national politics for more than twenty years, and served as Chief of Staff to Colorado Senator Tim Wirth. A long-time Democrat, she was National Political Coordinator for the Dukakis/Bentsen campaign, serving as policy director of the Democratic National Committee from 1985 until 1987.
Brophy also worked as Executive Director of the Women in Construction Project, a pre-apprenticeship program for woman, and then for the International Union of Bricklayers.
