Shane Clifford is a Managing Director and Partner, Head of Private Wealth Strategy at The Carlyle Group, focusing on the global growth strategy and business development for the firm’s private wealth across its three global business segments. Based in New York, Shane is focused on identifying new investor segments, new products, and capital-raising opportunities to appeal to private wealth investors globally.

Shane has extensive experience leading business development and strategy teams across alternative assets and financial services businesses in a career spanning over 20 years. He joined Carlyle from Franklin Templeton, where he was responsible for growing their Alternative Strategies segment and managing the product development and retail distribution strategy. He began his career at Merrill Lynch before working for BlackRock in the U.S., U.K., Middle East, and Latin America.

Born in County Limerick, Shane has a Bachelor of Business Studies from the University of Limerick. Shane moved to the U.S. in 1998 and has an MBA in international management from Boston University.

Shane is a proud Limerick man and loves getting home as often as possible. His Limerick origins have kept him grounded and endowed him with a professional drive to succeed. Shane resides in Ridgewood, New Jersey, with his wife, Tricia, and three children, Liam, Owen, and Sean.
