Ruth O’Farrell serves as Senior Vice President, Legal at NBCUniversal News, where she leads a global team managing complex commercial transactions across all NBCU News brands. An accomplished attorney, Ruth has expertise in leading negotiations for high-profile media and technology transactions. She previously worked at Reuters and Major League Baseball, supporting MLB Advanced Media’s $1 billion streaming business sale to Disney. Qualified to practice law in New York, California, Ireland, and England & Wales, Ruth began her career as a trainee solicitor at Matheson in Dublin, where she subsequently worked as a corporate finance associate. Before relocating to New York, she worked at The Walt Disney Company and AMC Networks International in London.

Originally from Dublin with strong ties to Mayo, Ruth holds law degrees from Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin and studied law as an Erasmus exchange student in Salamanca, Spain. 

Living in Westchester with her wife, Olena, and their two young sons, Felix and Jasper, Ruth is active in the Irish Community in NY and serves on the US Advisory Council for Barretstown – an Irish charity offering camps and residential programs for children with serious illnesses.
