
Ray Murphy
Ray Murphy has been a senior research analyst in municipal finance for over 25 years, the last 12 with the Fixed Income Group at Morgan Stanley Investment Management “(MSIM”). At MSIM, Ray focuses primarily on credits in the public power and transportation sectors within municipal finance, providing analytical research to a team of portfolio managers and traders managing roughly $70 billion in assets.
Before joining MSIM, Ray was a Vice President/Senior Credit Officer at Moody’s Investors Service and Vice President at First Southwest Company Ray began his career in the public sector as a research analyst with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Executive Office of Transportation and Construction.
He earned an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Ray and his wife Mary Lynn have three children Dempsey, Brendan, and Sean Ray’s great-grandparents emigrated from Ireland in the late 1880s from Counties Kerry, Cork, and Dublin. Ray continues to maintain his connection to Ireland through his membership at Waterville Golf Links in County Kerry. He and his wife make frequent trips to Ireland and feel an especially strong connection to the country, its people, and its culture.
