Maggie Hyland is the President of North America for SompoRe, the global reinsurance business of leading worldwide (re)insurer Sompo. With over 30 years of experience in the North American (re)insurance industry, she has held leadership positions at various companies, including Allied World, CNA, Axis Capital, and Willis Re. Maggie holds an MBA from the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University and a BA in Literature and Speech from St. John’s University.

Maggie was born in Queens, NY, but was raised from a young age on her parents’ farm in Co. Leitrim. She returned to the U.S. in the late ’80s to attend college and pursue a career. Maggie now lives on Long Island, NY, with her husband and son, while her older daughter is pursuing a medical degree at the University of Galway.

Maggie recently was recognized as one of Business Insurance’s 2024 Women to Watch at their Awards and Leadership Conference in NYC.
