Loretta Brennan Glucksman
Known among Irish Americans in New as the founder of NYU’s Ireland House, in 1995 Loretta Brennan Glucksman was named president of the American Ireland Fund, having previously served as East Coast president of the Fund.
Brennan Glucksman began her career as a documentary filmmaker with WNET. From there, her interest in public policy and expertise in government issues prompted her to establish her own public relations firm, Westland Associates. Brennan Glucksman traces her roots back to Counties Leitrim and Donegal. She and her husband, Lew Glucksman, share a strong love of Irish culture, and together they established Ireland House at NYU’s campus in Greenwich Village. Lew Glucksman now serves as a trustee of Ireland House and member of the university faculty while Loretta is on the board of overseers.
Ireland House was officially opened by Irish Taoiseach Albert Reynolds in April, 1963. Since then it has hosted writers, artists, politicians, foreign dignitaries and a series of cultural events. In 1995 it conducted a seminar on the anniversary of the Famine.
