Kathleen Murphy
Kathleen Murphy is the former President of Personal Investing at Fidelity where, from 2009, she led the growth of the business from approx $850 billion to $4.4 trillion, with over 35 million customer accounts and more than 25,000 employees in the business.
After stepping back from that role in 2021, Fidelity’s CEO asked Kathleen to be a Senior Adviser on a range of strategic issues for the firm. Fidelity is the nation’s number one provider of individual retirement accounts (IRAs), one of the largest brokerage businesses, one of the largest providers of investment advisory programs, and one of the leading providers of college savings plans.
Prior to joining Fidelity, Kathleen was CEO of ING U.S. Wealth Management. She received her BA summa cum laude from Fairfield University and earned her JD with highest honors from the University of Connecticut. Fortune magazine has consistently named her one of the Top 50 Most Powerful Women in American business. She serves on several boards, including Snyk, Fliptrx, National Football Foundation, and Markle.
A third-generation Irish American – her father’s family is from Cork, and her mother’s family is from Kerry – Kathleen is married with one son.
