Kathleen Murphy
Kathleen Murphy is president of Personal Investing, a unit of Fidelity Investments – the largest mutual fund company in the U.S. She assumed her position in January 2009 and oversees more than $1.84 trillion in assets under administration – a record 16 million customer accounts – and over 12,000 employees. Her business is the nation’s No.1 provider of individual retirement accounts (IRAs), one of the largest brokerage businesses, one of the largest providers of mutual fund managed account programs, and one of the leading providers of college savings plans.
Prior to joining Fidelity, Kathy was CEO of ING U.S. Wealth Management. She received her B.A. summa cum laude from Fairfield University and earned her J.D. with highest honors from the University of Connecticut. Fortune magazine named her one of the “Top 50 Most Powerful Women” in American business.
She is a third-generation Irish American – her father’s family is from County Cork and her mother’s family is from Kerry. She is married with one son.
