John Garvey, founder of Castlebar Ventures, is a seasoned executive in financial services business, strategy, operations, and risk. He retired from PwC in 2024 after a 35+-year career, serving as the Global Financial Services Industry & Digital Assets Leader for the last 8 years. In this role, he led the firm’s biggest industry, with client revenues exceeding $14 billion and a 60,000+-person talent pool of consulting, tax, and accounting professionals in over 150 countries.  

John has devoted his career to growing and transforming businesses, from start-up enterprises to multi-billion dollar institutions. By applying a laser focus on clients and talent and fiscal discipline, he has created and improved existing businesses and their financial performance. Through his new company, Castlebar Ventures, John is using this experience to advise high-potential clients in areas such as enterprise sales and marketing, alliances, technology, products, and talent.

John’s father (also John) was born in Castlebar, County Mayo, in 1940 and emigrated to America to attend university. John has been a frequent visitor to Ireland over his lifetime, both for personal and business reasons. He is an Irish citizen. John is married to Gloria and has four daughters: Katherine, Alexandra, Christina, and Juliette.
