John Duffy has been chairman and chief executive officer of Keefe, Bruyette & Woods since 2001 and has been with the firm for over 30 years. In 2006, Investment Dealers’ Digest named John its 2006 “Middle Market Banker of the Year.” Prior to taking this position, he served as the firm’s president and co-CEO since 1999. From 1990 to 1999, he was executive vice president in charge of KBW’s investment banking department. Before joining KBW in 1978, John was a vice president at Standard & Poor’s in charge of ratings for depository institutions.

John is on the board of trustees of the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, University College Dublin, and Saint Michael’s College in Vermont. He also serves on the board of trustees for The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, New York and is a trustee of Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx.

John received his BA in economics from the City College of New York and attended the Bernard Baruch Graduate Program of the City University of New York.
