James ‘Jim’ O’Donnell
Jim O’Donnell has been named Vice Chairman of Citi since January 2023. In this role, Jim focuses on deepening Citi’s relationships with its largest clients that are central to Citi’s growth strategies and identifying synergies across its core businesses. Prior to that, Jim was the CEO of Citi Global Wealth from January 2021 to September 2023, where he oversaw Citi Private Bank and Citi’s Consumer Wealth organization under a single, integrated platform serving clients across the wealth continuum, from the affluent segment to ultra-high-net-worth clients.
Prior to becoming CEO of Citi Global Wealth, Jim served as Head of Global Investor Sales and Relationship Management at Citi for 12 years, responsible for the global distribution of Citi Markets products including Equities and Fixed Income. For five consecutive years, Citi was honored by clients in Greenwich Associates annual survey as the world’s largest and best fixed-income dealer. Jim also served as President and CEO of HSBC Securities in New York, as well as the President and CEO of NatWest Securities.
Jim earned a bachelor’s degree in comparative religion from Princeton University. He is a second-generation Irish American, with his father’s family hailing from Dublin and his mother’s from Galway.
