Gerry Byrne
Gerry Byrne is Vice Chairman, PMC (Penske Media Corp), which owns or has controlling interest in leading entertainment, fashion, art and media brands that include Rolling Stone, Variety, WWD, The Robb Report, Art News, South by Southwest, and Dick Clark Productions. In addition to a long run as publisher of Variety, Byrne was the start-up publisher of Crain’s New York Business, and successfully created The Quill Awards for NBC before he led a division of Nielsen Business Media.
Byrne is on the boards of numerous not-for-profits including Fisher House, The Intrepid Museum, The USO, City Meals on Wheels, The Gotham and Film & Media Institute. He is also on the Advisory Board of the Fordham University Gabelli School and on the Board of NYC’s John Jay College. A 1966 graduate of Fordham College, Mr. Byrne served as a Marine Officer in Vietnam in 1968/69 and was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V. In November 2022, Byrne was inducted into the Fordham University Military Hall of Fame.
Gerry Byrne and his wife, Elizabeth, are proud Irish citizens. Their daughter, Megan, an actress, attended both University of Galway and Middlebury College in Vermont
