Gene McQuade
The Ireland Funds
Gene McQuade is the Chair of The Ireland Funds America. He is Governor of the Boys & Girls Club of America and Chair of the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York.
He has a distinguished career in prominent leadership roles at Citibank, Freddie Mac, Bank of America, FleetBoston Financial, Merrill Lynch Bank, and Promontory Financial Group. Gene is a Certified Public Accountant, earning a degree in accounting from St. Bonaventure University and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate.
Gene has served on the Boards of Directors of Merrill Lynch Banks (Chairman), Bank of America, and FleetBoston and as Chairman of XL Group Ltd. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army.
His father’s family hails from County Monaghan, and his mother’s family from Cork emigrated in the late 1800s. His grandmother was the youngest of 11 children and one of only two born in the United States; his grandfather worked as a stable hand in New York City.
