Ciaran O’Brien is a seasoned professional in the field of structured products and mortgage-backed securities. He currently serves as a Managing Director in RBC’s Central Funding Group, where he oversees the provision of repo financing for institutional clients. He has extensive experience in both sales and trading of various asset classes, including residential and commercial mortgage-backed securities, asset-backed securities, and collateralized loan obligations.

Ciaran began his career in March 2002 at UBS, working as a trader for seven years before moving on to a Managing Director role on the mortgage-backed securities team at Cantor Fitzgerald. He joined Mizuho Securities USA in 2014 as an Executive Director in the structured products sales group, before moving to RBC in 2018.

Ciaran holds a Bachelor of Engineering from University College Dublin, where he graduated in 2001. He was raised in Portmarnock, County Dublin, in a busy house with six siblings. He enjoys visiting his friends and family in Ireland on a regular basis. He lives in Eastchester, New York, with his wife Kara and two sons Cillian (12) and Eamon (9). He is an active volunteer in his community and enjoys coaching youth soccer and basketball teams.
