Anthony J. “Tony” Murphy is senior executive vice president of Strategy Implementation at HSBC North America Holdings Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of HSBC Holdings plc (NYSE:HBC). Prior to his appointment to this role, Tony was head of Portfolio Management for HNAH. He was formerly president and CEO of HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. and a dual executive officer of HSBC Bank USA N.A. He had been a leading member of the Global Banking & Markets senior management team in the Americas since 2000, appointed CEO of HSI in 2003 and in 2006 took on the added responsibilities as COO of CIBM and INV in North America and oversight of Balance Sheet Management activities. He joined the HSBC Group in 1990 and has held various general management, trading, strategy and risk management positions in New York and London.

Tony holds a degree from Trinity College, Dublin University, and a PhD in theoretical physics from Oxford University. He is a Fellow of the UK Institute of Actuaries.
