Anjelica Huston
Oscar-winning actress Anjelica Huston made headlines recently with her directorial debut. Bastard Out of Carolina, the story of a young girl’s struggle in a world of emotional and physical violence, was controversial but critically acclaimed. It was developed for Showtime and then for Ted Turner, only to be banned by Turner because of its stark content.
Most recently, Huston starred with Jack Nicholson in The Crossing Guard, for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
After winning the Oscar for her role in Prizzi’s Honor, Huston was nominated by the academy for her work in Enemies: A Love Story and The Grifters. She was nominated for an Emmy for her role as Calamity Jane in CBS’s Buffalo Girls, and for her work in the mini-series Lonesome Dove. Huston has numerous other film credits under her belt, including her father’s version of The Dead, which received two Academy Award nominations.
Raised in Ireland, Huston is part of a third generation of a renowned cinema family. Her grandfather was the actor Walter Huston, and her father, the writer-director John Huston. She currently lives in Los Angeles.
