Wexford GAA and Galway GAA have both reported strong financial results for 2024. Galway set a new inter-county record with €2.7 million in team spending, slightly higher than 2023’s €2.65 million. Wexford saw a 22% rise in team expenditure, reaching €1.47 million.
Galway’s spending increase was driven by preparation for the All-Ireland final and a team holiday. This marks their third consecutive year of rising costs. Despite this, Galway achieved a surplus of €730,000—double last year’s—thanks to €1.5 million in fundraising and nearly €1 million in commercial income, bringing total revenue to a record €6 million.
Wexford’s higher expenses were due to medical costs and more underage games. They balanced this with €1.47 million in commercial income and nearly €500,000 invested in coaching and games. The county reported an operating surplus of €355,000 and a net surplus of €50,000 after depreciation, with total revenue at €3.2 million.
Both counties face upcoming revenue audits, with Galway waiting for the audit to finish before finalising their accounts. The figures will be presented at next Monday night’s annual convention.
Meanwhile, Limerick’s outlay on team expenses came to €1,987,431, which was well down on last year’s figure of €2.37m when they completed a four-in-a-row of All-Ireland SHC title wins.
