POLICE have appealed for information after an elderly man died as a result of injuries sustained in a road traffic collision last month.
James Joseph Corrigan, 72, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following the incident in Doncaster, South Yorkshire at around 3.52pm on Friday, October 18.
This week, his family issued a tribute to the popular contractor and former boxer after revealing he had subsequently passed away.
“James was a father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and beloved partner of Pat,” they said.
“In his younger years, James was a professional boxer, before becoming a well-known contractor in Doncaster.
“He was a true gentleman and will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
On the day of the incident, police were called to the scene following a report that a green Peugeot 308 had collided with a pedestrian on Bentley Road.
Officers are now urging anyone who was in the area and who may have witnessed the collision, or who has dash-cam footage of the incident, to come forward.
Anyone with information, no matter how small, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 648 of October 18.
