Northwell Health will virtually unveil the ‘Women who Dared’ collection on Wednesday, May 19th at 11:00 am EST.
The ‘Women who Dared’ collection consists of over 330 works by female artists, from 7 continents, spanning 2,500 years, and tells the story of grit and perseverance of women in the arts and celebrates their artistic talents.
Thirty years ago, two motivated art collectors and philanthropists, Ms. Sandi Nicholson and her husband Mr. Bill Nicholson, discovered that less than 2% of works exhibited by the world’s leading museums and galleries were by women. This inspired them to assemble the ‘Women Who Dared’ collection to honor the artistic talents of women and advance diversity in the arts.
…now the ‘Women Who Dared’ collection will help us honor the bicentennial of the birth of Florence Nightingale, (founder of modern nursing and the first nursing college), and our Nurse Heroes of today…
Today, the legacy of Florence Nightingale continues, with people all over the world opening their doors and windows to show appreciation for our healthcare workers on the front lines.
In honor of the legacy of Florence Nightingale and our Nurse Heroes of today and their families, for the first time we will be able to see and enjoy select pieces from the collection.
