The 2020 Irish America Hall of Fame dinner and inductions will be held in New York City on March 12, 2020, and we are excited to celebrate and honor eight outstanding Irish American leaders and the contributions they have made in public service, the trades, business, education, and entertainment.
“This year’s honorees are a wonderful mix of artists, a labor leader, an educator, a peacemaker, business leaders and one of America’s most important politicians” said Patricia Harty Co-Founder of Irish America Magazine. “They reflect the length and breadth of the Irish American experience.”
The 2020 honorees include singing legend Judy Collins; Jean Butler the founding female lead dancer in Riverdance, which opened 25 years ago; Congressman Richie Neal, Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, one of America’s most powerful politicians; Sean McGarvey, President, North America’s Building Trades Unions, who is promoting diversity in the workplace; Eileen Murray, an award-winning leader in the financial services industry who currently serves as Co-CEO at Bridgewater Associates, and on the board of the Irish Arts Center; Kathleen Murphy President, Fidelity Personal Investing and one of the 50 most powerful women in business; educator Thomas Kelly Head of the acclaimed Horace Mann School in New York City; and Patrick Doherty, Director of Corporate Governance at the NYS Office of the State Comptroller, who played a key role in the Irish peace process.
“The range of professions and achievements reflect fully the extraordinary impact that Irish Americans have in every aspect of American life. It is also clear that our honorees love to share their heritage and background, said Niall O’Dowd Co-Founder.
Irish America Magazine is celebrating its 35 anniversary this year and the class of 2020 will join such luminaries as William Campbell, Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine; former President Bill Clinton, former Vice President Joe Biden; the late Senator John McCain; billionaire philanthropist Chuck Feeney, actress Fionnula Flanagan; astronaut Eileen Collins; Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey, among others who have been inducted.
