Adrian Jones is named 2012 Wall Street 50 Keynote Speaker by Irish America Magazine

Irish America is proud to announce Adrian Jones of Goldman Sachs as the 2012 Wall Street 50 Keynote Speaker. Jones is a managing director of the Principal Investment Area of the Merchant Banking Division in New York, where he is co-head of the Americas Equity business and a member of the Global Investment Committee. 2012 marks the 15th anniversary of the prestigious list and awards dinner – the premier networking event of the Irish-American financial community.

Jones, who grew up in Co. Roscommon, has for years demonstrated leadership and commitment in both his professional and philanthropic life. He is a member of Goldman Sach’s Global Investment Committee and is responsible for the firm’s healthcare and consumer-related investing in the United States. In addition, he represents the firm on a number of corporate boards.

For 15 years, the Irish America Wall Street 50 has presented the best and brightest of Irish-American and Irish-born figures in the financial industry. As Keynote, Jones joins an impressive group of influential leaders whose insight and dedication stand strong against the challenges of the recession, and whose fortitude and success exemplify the qualities passed down from their Irish ancestors. In recent years, speakers have included Brian Ruane, CEO of BNY Mellon Alternative and Broker-Dealer Services; Bob McCann, CEO of UBS Wealth Management; and Brian Moynihan, CEO of Bank of America.

Jones served in the Irish Army from 1981 to 1989, earning the rank of Lieutenant. From 1987 to 1988, he served in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Southern Lebanon. He earned his bachelor’s degree from University College Galway, a master’s degree from University College Dublin, and an MBA from Harvard before joining Goldman Sachs in 1994.

He serves on the boards of Autism Speaks and the Galway University Foundation.

A member of the board of the American Ireland Fund and a key participant in the Global Irish Economic Forum, Jones is highly dedicated to his home country – especially during its current period of economic turmoil. At the 2011 Global Irish Economic Forum in Dublin, he pointed out that “The perception of Ireland in the markets dwarves everything else. Right now, taking back control of our own sovereignty – the economic impact of that dwarves everything else we can do. It’s an absolute imperative.”
