America’s premier ballet academy, the School of American Ballet (SAB), held its second Winter Ballet Ball at Lincoln Center on February 15. Waterford Crystal was the generous sponsor of the Winter Ballet Ball and “The Encore” after party.
The evening began with a cocktail reception followed by dinner and dancing in the glamorous Alien Room with its vistas of Columbus Circle and Central Park. Guests dined at elegantly appointed tables featuring china and crystal from Waterford’s Ballet Collection. A pièce d’occasion choreographed by Melissa Barak. an SAB alumna and current member of New York City Ballet, was performed by SAB’s advanced students.
Following dinner, guests proceeded to the Atrium for “The Encore” after party, where miniature desserts were served and champagne was passed in Waterford flutes.
Founded in 1934 by Lincoln Kirstein and the legendary choreographer George Balanchine, the School of American Ballet trains more dancers who go on to professional careers than any other school in the United States. SAB. a constituent of Lincoln Center, is the official School of New York City Ballet.
Proceeds from the Winter Ballet Ball and “The Encore” will help fund nearly $1 million in annual student scholarships. ♦
